Opera Terrace
Description
This project involves the complete redevelopment of an existing restaurant in Covent Garden to create a distinctive and contemporary dining destination.
The site currently operates as a first-floor restaurant with a separate ground-floor café. The venue includes a main dining area, bar, private room, and comprehensive back-of-house facilities—kitchens, toilets, offices, storage, and service areas. However, the existing layout presents several operational constraints, including:
- Limited overall presence and visibility of the restaurant.
- Cramped kitchen spaces.
- Multiple access points creating inefficiencies.
- Poorly configured back-of-house areas.
- Seasonal redundancy of outdoor spaces during the winter months.
The redevelopment will address these issues through the removal of the existing conservatory enclosure and construction of a new structure. The scheme will also integrate the ground floor of the north-eastern pavilion as a new main entrance, improving arrival experience and flow.
Refurbishment works will extend to the back-of-house areas in the east and west ranges, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting the delivery of a seamless, high-quality hospitality experience in one of London’s most iconic cultural locations.
